Vertebrate Publishing books by Paul Pritchard, Alex Roddie and Karen and Dan Parker have been longlisted for the Banff Mountain Book Competition 2022.
The Mountain Path by Paul Pritchard, The Farthest Shore by Alex Roddie and Peak Bagging: Wainwrights by Karen and Dan Parker have been selected for the Mountain Literature, Adventure Travel and Guidebooks categories respectively.
The news follows the announcement that The Mountain Path was shortlisted for this year's Boardman Tasker Award for Mountain Literature.
Festival Director of The Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival, Joanna Croston said: 'Every year the book competition is inundated with outstanding entries and 2022 was no exception. After many months of reviewing 163 titles in seven categories, we have selected the top books in each category based on style, content, relevance and story as reviewed by a team of dedicated readers.'
This is the forty-seventh year of the Banff Mountain Book Competition, an internationally recognised literary competition held as part of the annual Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival. The festival is one of the world’s pre-eminent events for mountain enthusiasts and brings together climbers, filmmakers, writers and photographers from around the globe.
The shortlist of category award winners will be announced in mid-October. These books will then be eligible for the award's Grand Prize which will be revealed at the Book Awards Presentation on Thursday 3 November as part of the virtual Banff Centre Mountain Film and Book Festival.
